TO NAP, TO BRUSH, TO CONCENTRATE, TO WEAVE, TO BE GRATEFUL
During my participation in the 2025 Immersive Residencies, I developed an artistic proposal entitled “To nap, to brush, to concentrate, to weave, to be grateful. 3,522 ways to inhabit a special place”. The project stems from an investigation into ways of inhabiting space through the body, everyday life and expanded time, proposing a site-specific artistic practice that combines performance, installation and video.
Adopting a site-specific approach, I carried out a series of intimate and repetitive performative actions—sleeping, brushing, walking, weaving, reading poetry, giving thanks—carried out at various points within the site’s natural and architectural surroundings. Rather than seeking a spectacular effect, these actions functioned as everyday rituals of attention and presence, creating a direct relationship between the body, space and gesture.
These actions gave rise to a process-based installation, comprising fragments of handwritten text, found or altered objects, textiles, traces of the body in space, and collected natural elements. The installation was conceived as a navigable and evocative space, inviting the public to pause, read, rest or engage with the work through their own experience.
As a final output, I produced an experimental video that documents and poetically reinterprets the process experienced during the residency. Through editing, rhythm and sound, the video interweaves images of the performative actions with texts and landscapes of the surrounding area, functioning as a narrative and sensory extension of the project.
My proposal seeks to explore how the smallest of gestures can possess transformative power when sustained over time and in dialogue with a specific territory. The combination of installation, performance and video enables the construction of an artistic language that highlights the subtle, the processual and the relational.
